Introduction to Supersymmetric Gauge Theories

In these lectures I present a basic introduction to supersymmetry, especially to N = 1 supersymmetric gauge theories and their renormalization, in the Wess-Zumino gauge. I also discuss the various ways supersymmetry may be broken in order to account for the lack of exact supersymmetry in the actual world of elementary particles. In these notes the exact renormalization group formulation of the scalar theory is briefly reviewed. This regularization scheme is then applied to supersymmetric theories. In case of a supersymmetric gauge theory it is also shown how to recover gauge invariance, broken by the introduction of the infrared cutoff.

These effective actions are used to extract exact strong-coupling information about N = 4 and N = 2 supersymmetric gauge theories.
